On December 20, CDW Corporation donated $350,000 to the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry (LABI) for the Small Business Disaster Relief Fund. Founded by the LABI, the Fund provides grants to help rebuild small businesses in the four states most affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita - Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas.
After its initial donation, CDW also launched the "Small Business Reboot" program, challenging other businesses to contribute to the Fund as well.
CDW matched the next $350,000 in other businesses’ donations dollar-for-dollar, bringing the total small business grants available from the effort to more than $1 million. Since “Small Business Reboot’s” launch in December, the initiative has helped more than 200 Gulf-Area-based small business companies rebuild their facilities and infrastructure.

"The long-term viability of this region’s economy depends on small business recovery. These enterprises are the backbone of the Gulf region’s economy, and they need our help now. That’s what this effort is about – providing real help, right now, where it has the greatest potential to provide both immediate and long-term benefits."
John Edwardson, CDW

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 205,995 small businesses exist in the four states affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, creating a large need for funds
Although $2.9 billion has been raised in the past four months for hurricane relief, most of these monies are not earmarked to help the small business owner

CDW and its coworkers have given food, funds, on-site support and several other donations to charitable and humanitarian efforts in the Gulf region after the hurricanes. In fact, CDW’s donation and match program for the "Small Business Reboot" were made possible when CDW coworkers decided to forego their annual holiday party and use its significant budget to help in the Gulf Coast rebuilding efforts. LABI established eligibility criteria and engaged the nonprofit Baton Rouge Area Foundation to administer a “blind” application and evaluation process for distributing funds to small businesses. The application and evaluation process conceals business' identities from volunteer teams who screen the applications.
Baton Rouge Area Foundation is a nonprofit organization that forms partnerships with philanthropists, nonprofit organizations and other community leaders to ensure that its community can exceed any challenge, and that its residents have every opportunity to succeed. More information on the Baton Rouge Area Foundation is available at http://www.braf.org/.
