CDW Honored As A Top Place To Work For Sixth Straight Year
VERNON HILLS, Ill. - January 5, 2004 - FORTUNE magazine named CDW (Nasdaq: CDWC) to its annual "100 Best Companies to Work For" list. Coming in at No. 11, CDW is the highest-ranked FORTUNE 500 company on the list and is the only Illinois-based company to make the rankings. This is the sixth consecutive year that CDW, a leading provider of technology products and services to business, government and education, is on the list.
The rankings appear in FORTUNE's January 12, 2004 issue, which is scheduled to hit newsstands today.
"We've built and sustained a corporate culture based on mutual respect and reward, and this ultimately benefits our customers," said John A. Edwardson, CDW chairman and chief executive officer. "We've long believed that in the end, happy coworkers make the extra effort to satisfy customers. Our success despite the recent tough economic climate is a testament to the hard work, dedication and excellent service our coworkers demonstrate to our customers every day."
CDW coworkers share in the fruits of the company's success. All coworkers receive stock options, and approximately 75 percent of coworkers receive bonuses tied to specified performance measures. In addition, CDW also offers a subsidized childcare center and fitness center, a tuition reimbursement program, a paid day off for community service, dry cleaning pickup and a charitable donation match program. The company also awards tenured coworkers with vacation trips when sales goals are met.
CDW's commitment to its employees is also evident through a multi-disciplinary training program called CDW University. CDWU offers courses for coworkers in all departments - everything from leadership, sales and technical training to interpersonal and professional development skills.
FORTUNE magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list is based largely on an employee opinion survey of more than 46,000 randomly selected coworkers from more than 300 companies. Those companies also completed a questionnaire about their people philosophies, practices and policies. Nearly half of the coworkers surveyed also added written comments, which were also considered.
