CDW Launches New Version of "Fred's Corner" Web Page

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - February 6, 2003 - CDW is launching an upgrade to its popular "Fred's Corner" Web page in response to positive feedback from customers visiting the site. Fred's Corner, www.cdw.com/fred, is a section of CDW.com, the award-winning Web site of CDW, a leading provider of technology products and services to businesses, government agencies and educational institutions.

Fred's Corner is devoted to "Fred, the I.T. Guy," a fictional, overworked information technology professional who is featured in CDW's branding campaign dealing with funny and outrageous requests from otherwise well-meaning coworkers. As a result of these ads, Fred has become a popular hero in the I.T. world.

One new feature of Fred's Corner Version 2.0 enables customers to click on a graphic depicting various elements on Fred's desk and land in a specified content area of Fred's Corner. Visitors to Fred's Corner will now have direct access to the CDW Solutions Library, a collection of more than 100 informative articles on technology issues that have appeared in CDW's Solutions publications. Past articles have included "Virtualization: The Changing Face of Storage" and "Discover the Benefits of Remote Network Management."

"Fred's Corner is a convenient access point for useful information, which our customers rely on us to provide. We are constantly evaluating and enhancing CDW.com to meet our customers' needs, and in 2002, we saw a 35 percent increase in direct Web sales," said Jon Stevens, Chief Information Officer of CDW. "We launched Fred's Corner in May 2002 because our customers couldn't get enough of Fred. The page has become a fun way to celebrate the hard work of I.T pros everywhere."

Fred's Corner V2.0 includes an expansion of "Ask Fred," an advice column launched in December 2002. As questions come in from customers, answers are posted on a weekly basis. This column acts as a source of information to help customers handle day-to-day issues with their work. Recent column topics include strategies for creating file backups and managing the costs of printing.

Returning for V2.0 are popular Fred's Corner features, including "Fred Stories," which are real-life humorous tales about working in I.T., as well as access to the CDW TV and radio ads featuring Fred.
