CDW's 'Every Day Giveaway' Web site promotion attracts thousands of entries per day
VERNON HILLS, IL - Feb. 23, 1998 - CDW Computer Center, Inc.'s (Nasdaq: CDWC) e-commerce promotion, the Every Day Giveaway, is currently attracting around 3,000 entries per day. Through the unprecedented campaign, CDW is giving away a computer product every day of 1998. Contestants need only visit the www.cdw.com site and complete an entry form. There is no obligation to purchase, and while there is a limit of one entry per e-mail address per day, a shopper can enter the CDW Every Day Giveaway every day. The contest ends December 31. All Every Day Giveaway prizes are major brands and popular items. To date, CDW has given away over $10,000 worth of merchandise to winners across the United States, including a Kodak DC50 digital camera, an Iomega Jaz Drive and Microsoft Small Business Office software.
"The intention behind the CDW Every Day Giveaway goes beyond creating traffic and generating repeat visits to our Web site," explained Greg Zeman, CDW's president. "We also want to increase our exposure to new shoppers and show them the tremendous value CDW can offer with great prices on the brand names they want, as well as reward our loyal CDW customers with opportunities to win those brand name products they would normally buy." CDW awards a new prize every 24 hours at midnight and notifies the winner via e-mail the next day. One winner is selected daily at random by CDW's Prize Machine software from entries received via cdw.com during the previous 24 hours. The daily prize to be awarded is published at the CDW Web site, and a new group of entrants is gathered each day. A prize is given away every day of the year, including holidays and weekends. Since the promotion began January 1, 1998, it has already logged a rousing response from Web shoppers.
"Reaction to the CDW Every Day Giveaway promotion has been phenomenal, and the number of entrants each day continues to increase at an incredible rate," said Zeman. "In the first month we saw the number of daily entries grow exponentially from under 100 to over 2,000 per day. This tells us our promotion is attracting the attention of numerous Web shoppers out there."
