CDW Enhances Server Offerings
Vernon Hills, Illinois, April 3, 2003 - CDW (Nasdaq: CDWC), a leading provider of technology products and services for businesses, government agencies and educational institutions, builds on the company's success in the server market by expanding its offerings with a selection of new server products and technologies. CDW recently earned distinction as HP's No. 1 reseller of servers for 2002 in the North American Direct Response Channel. This is the fourth consecutive year that CDW has led sales of HP's (and previously Compaq's) Intel-based servers.
CDW is selling a new line of four processor capable blade servers, the HP ProLiant BL40p. These Intel Xeon based blade servers offer high performance and high availability, allowing data center managers to more effectively handle demands on their server farms through rapid deployment and automated provisioning. The servers come standard with dual processors and are upgradeable to four. HP is the No. 1 worldwide manufacturer of Intel-based servers.
"Customers needing rapid scalability in their data centers benefit from these new HP ProLiant blade servers," said Harry J. Harczak, Jr., CDW's executive vice president - sales. "As a premier source of servers and other mission-critical technology, CDW meets customer needs with product selection and knowledgeable account managers who help our customers find the right products for their needs."
CDW is also offering multiple levels of HP Priority Services for ProLiant servers, which can provide customers with flexible, around-the-clock integrated hardware and software support for their server systems. These comprehensive services provide an on-site response to minimize downtime and can help achieve high availability and performance by addressing both hardware and software.
"Companies like CDW are vital to extending and augmenting HP technology to our customers," said David Petts, vice president, Americas region, HP Industry Standard Servers. "The combination of HP ProLiant servers and CDW's renowned customer service is of great value to our small- and medium-sized business and enterprise customers."
CDW also offers a wide range of business and enterprise server software applications such as Microsoft's Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000, an enterprise firewall and Web cache server application.
