CDW Climbs to Fortune 1000
Vernon Hills, Illinois, April 9, 1998 --- CDW Computer Centers, Inc. ("CDW") has been named one of America's largest 1000 companies, according to Fortune Magazine's new America's 1000 list to be on newstands April 13, 1998. Ranked number 868, CDW has experienced continuous, rapid growth ever since its founding fifteen years ago. The company surpassed its $1 billion sales milestone last year, with 1997 sales reaching $1.3 billion, compared to sales of $100 million ten years ago.
In addition to its strong sales, CDW ranked well in profitability. Compare to other companies in Fortune Magazine's wholesaler category, CDE ranked second in profits as a percent of assets, fourth in profits as a percent of shareholder equity, and sixth in profits as a percent of revenues. CDW's 1997 net income was $51 million, up 48 percent over 1996.
