BusinessWeek Names CDW To List Of World's Top Performing IT Companies
VERNON HILLS, Ill. June 14, 2001 - CDW Computer Centers Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC), a direct solutions provider of technology products and services, today announced BusinessWeek magazine ranked the company No. 43 on its annual list of the world's 100 top performing information technology companies. In the "Information Technology 100," CDW ranked No. 4 in its category of Services and Distributors.
"This ranking reflects CDW's powerful combination of technology, personal service and efficiency," said John A. Edwardson, CDW's Chairman and CEO. "We use the technology we sell to create a highly-automated, customer-driven business model. In fact, CDW is No. 2 on the list in sales per coworker, which demonstrates our ability to grow sensibly and efficiently."
BusinessWeek cites efficiency as the theme connecting companies in its "IT100" list. The lead IT100 article noted, "The tech companies that will prosper the most are those that have figured out both halves of the efficiency game: how to live it by the way they do business internally and how to sell it through profit-boosting products and services."
For the "IT 100" list, BusinessWeek selected and then ranked companies based on a number of criteria, including revenue growth, total size, shareholder return, and return on equity. Despite the recent economic uncertainty, CDW's first quarter 2001 net sales were $987 million, up 14 percent from the first quarter 2000.
In addition to BusinessWeek's IT 100, CDW has appeared recently in a number of prestigious lists based on the company's performance. For example, CDW broke into the FORTUNE 500 in 2001, taking the No. 435 spot. And FORTUNE also named CDW one of the "100 Fastest Growing Companies in America" in 2000.
BusinessWeek's IT 100 list appears in the magazine's June 18, 2001 issue.
