CDW Launches Biz Tech Magazine: Company Premieres New Magazine Web Site on IT Strategy for Small Business
VERNON HILLS, Ill. – June 14, 2005 - CDW Corporation (NASDAQ: CDWC), a leading provider of technology products and services to business, government and education, today announced the launch of Biz Tech, a new quarterly magazine focused exclusively on information technology strategy of small businesses with 20 to 99 employees.
In conjunction with the launch of the magazine, CDW also created a new Web site, http://www.biztechmagazine.com/, as a complementary resource for its Biz Tech audience, providing additional tools, a discussion board, access to CDW technology expertise, archived articles, white papers and more.
"Biz Tech is the latest in a series of innovative CDW marketing strategies to engage our customers with relevant, value-added communications," said Diane Primo, chief marketing officer, CDW. "We recognize that business decision-makers expect to be treated as individuals and respond only to those who show an understanding of their challenges. Along with CDW's longstanding practice of dedicated account managers for every customer, Biz Tech's focus on businesses with 20 to 99 employees shows CDW's responsiveness to customer IT needs in all their variety."
Initially, Biz Tech will be distributed to approximately 50,000 businesses across the United States, primarily drawing from CDW's customer base, with room to grow as the publication becomes established. Readers may also register to access the online version of the magazine at http://www.biztechmagazine.com/.
CDW identified the 20-to-99 employee segment through research as an audience with unique IT needs compared to its larger and smaller peers, and one which at times is overlooked by existing resources in the media. Small business executives also have expressed overwhelming positive interest to CDW in the concept of a publication of this kind.
"Our research indicates that the number one focus for small businesses is growing their business. They are asking for an IT publication that clearly articulates a point of view around how IT can help them drive growth," said Lee Copeland, CDW's editor-in-chief for Biz Tech. "For those that are clearly focused on growth IT can be an important weapon in their arsenal to help them achieve their goals. Biz Tech provides many case stories and tips on how others are using IT as a critical component of their strategy and day-to-day operations."
Biz Tech will address senior-level decision makers and IT leaders among businesses with 20 to 99 employees based on CDW proprietary research, which shows CEOs define needs while IT leaders drive product choice. Each article in the approximately 64-page edition will cover both technology and business issues around a particular challenge, with multiple examples and case histories drawn from CDW customer experience, along with a "Takeaway" sidebar with specific action steps for the IT manager. Regular features will include "Growing Pains," focusing on tough, what-would-you-do management issues ranging from dress codes to telecommuting, and commentary from Harry J. Harczak, Jr., executive vice president of sales, CDW.
