CDW RANKS NO. 6 IN BUSINESS WEEK INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 100

Award latest in recent string of accolades

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - June 16, 2000 - CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC), the country's direct solutions provider of brand-name computing technology, today announced Business Week magazine ranked the company No. 6 on its annual list of the world's top 100 information technology companies. CDW's consistent financial growth, which led to this ranking, is directly attributable to the company's business model and emphasis on customer satisfaction.

"Being named No. 6 by a prestigious business publication like Business Week demonstrates that our focus on total customer satisfaction is working," said Greg Zeman, president of CDW. "We've worked hard to center all our business practices around our customers. This stand-out rating among such impressive information technology companies including Cisco (No. 25), Microsoft (No. 75), Nokia (No. 1) and Sun Microsystems (No. 11) validates our high tech/high touch approach to business."

The June 19 issue of Business Week ranked information technology companies according to traditional measures of fiscal strength - revenues, revenue growth, return on equity, total return and profits. As reported in Business Week, during the twelve-month period ending March 31, 2000, on which the list was determined, CDW achieved net sales of $2.9 billion, revenue growth of 52.8 percent, a 24 percent return on equity, 181 percent total shareholder return and profits of $113.7 million.

The Business Week list caps a week of top honors for CDW. E-commerce authority Gomez Advisors, Inc. recognized CDW's Web site, www.cdw.com, No. 1 for Relationship Services in its Summer 2000 Internet Computer Store Scorecard. And Computerworld magazine, an information technology publication, ranked CDW No. 19 on its annual list of "100 Best Places to Work in IT."
