CDW BRINGS COMPAQ, MICROSOFT, CISCO AND IDC TOGETHER TO LAUNCH CUSTOMER TECHNOLOGY SEMINAR SERIES

Seminars and Webcasts further distinguish CDW's leading role as technology information source

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - June 19, 2000 - CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC) is advancing its role as the source of technology information for business customers by launching a new series of educational seminars and Webcasts. To kick off the series, CDW will bring together experts from Compaq, Microsoft®, Cisco and IDC on June 20 to jointly lead a seminar covering technology innovations targeted to small- and medium-sized businesses.

This new seminar series is a natural outgrowth of CDW's unique position as the nation's direct solutions provider of customized computing solutions, which enables the company to offer its expertise to customers across a spectrum of brands, products and services. The seminar, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. CDT June 20, 2000, will be broadcast live on the Internet at http://www.cdw.com/events. It will remain archived there for future viewing as well.

"As businesses, government and educational institutions deal with rapid changes in technology, they rely on CDW to help them make informed purchasing decisions," said Joe Kremer, CDW's vice president of marketing. "CDW has built its reputation on making each customer's day a little bit easier with unrivaled expertise and support. Bringing together three of the world's leading technology companies and a leading industry analyst for this seminar is just one part of the technology solutions we provide our customers," he added.

The launch of CDW's customer technology seminar series follows a successful pilot program, which included two similar seminars held earlier this year. The first seminar featured industry experts from Toshiba, the second, Quantum. Positive customer feedback from these programs led CDW to officially launch the seminar series with the June 20 event. "CDW's recent customer technology seminar was helpful, informative and another way that CDW helps me stay ahead of the latest developments in technology," said Charles Rube, director of information systems at law firm Sommers, Schwartz, Silver & Schwartz, P.C. and a CDW customer.

"This seminar exemplifies CDW's full range of capabilities in reaching people who want to maximize technology to their competitive advantage," said Bob Gregerson, vice president, North America partner sales and marketing of Compaq, a key sponsor of the June 20 customer technology seminar.

The technology seminar and Webcast will feature Mickie Wright, director, e-business solutions of Compaq; Anthony Rauseo, Senior Principal Technologist of Microsoft; and Michael Mayes, major account manager of Cisco Systems, Inc. John Gantz, senior vice president and chief research officer for industry analyst International Data Corporation, will be speaking on the future of the Internet.
