CDW to Add New Sales Facility
Company expands in downtown Chicago market to accommodate growth of sales force
VERNON HILLS, Ill. July 10, 2000 - CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC), the country's direct solutions provider of brand name computing technology, plans to expand its presence in downtown Chicago with a lease for 72,000 square feet of office space. The new sales office at 10 S. Riverside, a twin property to the building housing CDW's existing sales office at 120 S. Riverside Plaza, will double the company's downtown office space to 144,000 square feet in 2001.
The announcement of the additional space comes on the heels of the company's April 2000 opening of its first downtown sales office at 120 S. Riverside Plaza. The new office is expected to open in the first quarter of 2001 and will accommodate more than 500 account managers at capacity.
"With this additional sales office, we are building on what is working at our current Vernon Hills, Chicago and Buffalo Grove sales offices," said Greg Zeman, CDW's president. "Having downtown facilities complements our existing mix of office locations and allows us to appeal to a broader selection of the workforce. Combined with all the benefits enjoyed by CDW coworkers, we can continue to expand the CDW team with motivated and productive coworkers."
CDW account managers are known for their personalized one-on-one relationships with customers, knowledgeable advice across brand name technology products and integration of e-commerce in serving their customers.
This latest sales center is a part of CDW's overall expansion plans to meet the company's growth objectives. Earlier this month, CDW opened its second floor at 120 S. Riverside Plaza and expects that sales office to reach its capacity of more than 500 account managers by year-end. Construction on a 250,000 square-foot addition to the company's distribution center is underway at its VERNON HILLS, Ill. campus, which will bring total warehouse and distribution space to 450,000 square feet.
