CDW Named To Fortune List Of 100 Fastest-growing Companies
VERNON HILLS, Ill. August 22, 2000 - CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC), the country's direct solutions provider of brand name computing technology, has been named one of "100 Fastest-Growing Companies in America" by FORTUNE magazine. The annual feature, which appears in the September 4 issue, ranked CDW No. 94.
The company is the 11th largest firm on the list based on revenue for the past four quarters, which demonstrates that CDW has maintained accelerated growth even as a larger company.
Since the ranking was compiled, CDW recently posted its 28th quarter of sequential sales growth. The company's net sales and net income for the six months ended June 30, 2000 were up 59 percent and 79 percent, respectively, over the same period in 1999. The company posted net sales of $3.2 billion for the trailing twelve months ended June 30, 2000.
"The CDW philosophy of creating a coworker-first environment and recognizing the customer as our ultimate employer leads to excellent customer service that creates repeat sales. I thank CDW coworkers for taking CDW's customer-centered philosophy to heart," said Michael Krasny, CEO of CDW. "Our financial success is proof that our commitment to making our customers' day easier continues to make a difference."
This year's ranking on FORTUNE's fastest-growing list is the most recent in the company's string of accolades. CDW is repeatedly cited as one of America's most successful companies on other FORTUNE lists, including the FORTUNE 1000 (ranked at No. 560) for 2000, and the "100 Best Companies to Work for in America" list for the last two years. Recently, the company was named a finalist for the annual Better Business Bureau National Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics in the large-company category.
"Although we are proud of these accomplishments, we will maintain our belief that 'Success Means Never Being Satisfied' and continue to strive to reach new heights," Krasny said.
To select companies for this list of 100 Fastest-Growing Companies, FORTUNE looked for companies that are based in the U.S., have been in operation for at least three years and have revenues and a market capitalization of at least $50 million. FORTUNE then selected those with at least a 30 percent annual growth rate for the past three years in both revenue and earnings per share (EPS), and with positive earnings in the latest quarter. Companies were selected based on growth in revenue, earnings per share, and total stock-market return over the last three years. The list was compiled by Zacks Investment Research.
