CDW Recognized for Industry-Leading E-Commerce Efforts
VERNON HILLS, Ill. - September 5, 2002 - CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC), a leading provider of technology products and services for businesses, government agencies and educational institutions, is being recognized for its significant commitment to customer service through its e-commerce Web sites CDW.com and CDWG.com.
Ranked one of the best business-to-business Web sites, CDW.com earns high marks by BtoB Magazine in its annual NetMarketing 100 list of Web sites. CDW.com ranked in the top five of all Web sites judged on quality and presentation of information, ease of navigation, design, e-commerce, and extra tools that enhance the user's experience. With a score of 97 out of a possible 100 points, CDW joins 3Com, American Express and Microsoft at the top of this year's list.
"We've focused on what is most important to our customers: up-to-date information that is well organized and relevant to their business," said Jon Stevens, chief information officer, CDW. "With more than 70 percent of our sales coming from those who actively use their customized CDW Web site, it is gratifying that both CDW customers and BtoB Magazine recognize CDW.com as a Web site of choice for IT purchasing needs."
In addition, CDW.com continues to improve its service offerings with the creation of an online library of technology articles on current issues and emerging products. Launching September 9, the CDW.com Solutions Library will present feature length articles on topics ranging from virtual storage to VOIP to volume software licensing. Interviews with industry leaders such as Bruce Claflin, chief executive officer of 3Com, and Neil Knox, vice president of U.S. Resellers for Sun Microsystems, will provide additional industry insight to readers.
Readers of Government Computer News recently tapped CDWG.com as the second most visited site for IT purchasing; only the U.S. Government-run GSA Advantage Web site was chosen more often by those surveyed. CDWG.com is the e-commerce Web site of CDW-Government, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of CDW that addresses the unique needs of customers in the federal, state and local government and education markets.
"CDWG.com remains an integral part of our service to the government and education marketplaces and we constantly work to improve our customers' online experience," said Jim Shanks, president, CDW•G. "It is our goal to deliver the best buying experience possible, whether it is in person, over the phone or via the Web."
To enhance customers' experience on the site, CDWG.com relaunches today to provide customers with tools such as a new site map for improved navigation and a new 'Links of Interest' section for easy reference to information. Customers can take advantage of the ability to quickly and easily see if their account manager is in or out of the office in real time; view their last three quotes at the top of their homepage; link to available contracts; and search a database of contracts available through CDW•G via their personalized CDWG@work extranet site.
