CDW Resumes Purchases of Company Stock

VERNON HILLS, Illinois, - September 24, 2001 - CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC), a leading direct solutions provider of technology products and services, today announced it has resumed purchasing shares of Company stock under its previously announced share repurchase plan. During the week of September 17, 2001, the Company repurchased approximately 300,000 shares of its stock on the open market.

"Our repurchasing of stock reflects the confidence our Board of Directors and management have in CDW's successful business model and ongoing business prospects," said John A. Edwardson, CDW's chairman and chief executive officer.

In January 2001, CDW's Board of Directors approved the repurchase of up to 5 million shares of stock. To date, the Company has repurchased approximately 2.25 million shares. The amount and timing of future purchases will be determined in response to market conditions.
