CDW·G Recognized As One of the Top 10 Companies to Watch in the Federal Marketplace

Federal Computer Week cites company's inventory management, service and selection

VERNON HILLS, Ill. - September 28, 1999 - Federal Computer Week, an IT publication catering to the federal government, named CDW Government, Inc. (CDWG) one of "10 Hot Companies to Watch" in the 1999 Federal List published in its September 20 issue.

In naming CDWG to the "Hot Companies to Watch" list, Federal Computer Week cited the company's new blanket purchase agreement with the Air Force and the recently awarded U.S. Mint hardware and software contract, as evidence of CDWG's success in the federal market. The publication touted inventory management, distribution model and key vendor relations as benefits enjoyed by CDWG customers.

"Being recognized by Federal Computer Week reflects the success we have had bringing our best commercial practices to the federal government," commented Larry Kirsch, senior vice president, CDWG.

CDW Government, a subsidiary company of CDW Computer Centers, Inc. (Nasdaq: CDWC) was launched in September 1998 to address the unique needs of the government market, building on its 15 years of service to the government and education markets.

"Agencies, large and small, are turning to CDWG for our knowledgeable account managers and our e-commerce capabilities, including CDWG@work, personalized, agency-specific extranet sites," said Kirsch. "This marketplace is looking for state-of-the art technology and services to take them into the new millennium, and CDWG is the one-stop solution that offers brand-name products with the customer service and support agencies are looking for, like free custom configurations, same day shipping and toll-free technical support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

This is the first year that Federal Computer Week published the "10 Hot Companies" category in the annual Federal List. According to the publication CDWG and the other companies "stand out among the thousands of companies doing business in the federal space." Federal Computer Week surveyed integrators, resellers, and other industry observers to determine which companies should be included on the list.
