CDW Founder Michael Krasny Honored with Induction into CRN Magazine Hall of Fame
VERNON HILLS, Ill. - November 19, 2002 - CRN magazine last night inducted Michael P. Krasny, founder and chairman emeritus of CDW (Nasdaq: CDWC), into its "Industry Hall of Fame," which represents a select group of the most influential technology leaders.
At the sixth annual awards ceremony featuring Tonight Show host Jay Leno at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, Krasny joined past inductees like Microsoft's Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, Hewlett-Packard's William Hewitt and David Packard, and Oracle's Larry Ellison in the Industry Hall of Fame.
Krasny's induction honors his accomplishments in building CDW from a home-based business into a multi-billion dollar, FORTUNE 500 company providing brand-name technology products and services along with a focus on customer service and support to businesses, government agencies and educational institutions.
"Michael Krasny developed a model that many envy today. Induction into the CRN Industry Hall Of Fame isn't something that can be accomplished by someone who has just 15 minutes of fame in their business career," said Robert Faletra, president, CMP Media Technology Solutions Group, which publishes CRN. "Building a $4 billion business over 20 years that many would love to duplicate is something that makes the industry sit up and listen and earns Krasny a place in history."
Krasny's passion for customer service began at his kitchen table and developed into CDW's successful business model, which is rooted in listening to customers' needs, responding quickly with the right technology, and fostering a corporate culture that puts coworkers first. For the last four years, FORTUNE magazine has named CDW as one of the "Best Companies to Work For in America." And, CDW continues to grow sales and profits in the face of an economic downturn that has resulted in decreased information technology sales for most across the industry. In the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2002, CDW posted record quarterly sales and earnings.
"I feel humbled to be in the company of these industry leaders - people who truly changed the world," Krasny said. "As a supplier of technology, CDW depends on the outstanding products that come from all the innovators who have been honored with this award in the past. I am truly honored to be joining this group."
Of its Industry Hall of Fame, which is co-presented by the Computer History Museum, CRN says it, "recognizes and honors the creators of the technology that changes our lives, and celebrates the wonder of transformation."
Coverage of the CRN "Industry Hall of Fame" inductees appears in the magazine's Nov. 18, 2002 edition.
